Tacky is a penguin who is very different from all of his friends. He does not act like the other 'proper' penguins. His friends make fun of his odd behavior all of the time, which causes Tacky to feel bad about himself. One day, hunters come in search of penguins. It is Tacky's odd behavior that throws the hunters off so much that they are no longer convinced any penguins live in the area. Tacky's friends realize that there are indeed advantages to being different. This book speaks strongly to the theme of individuality, and that being different or unique can actually be a good thing.
About the Teacher...
My name is Krista Molusis. I am an Elementary Education major at Central Connecticut State University. I really enjoy reading books and writing short stories. In my spare time, I enjoy working out at the gym, hiking, dancing... basically anything active. I have been working for a before and after school care program for six years now with Farmington Extended Care and Learning. I am very dedicated and self-motivated and I hope to make a difference in the education of my future students!
